Answering God's Call: The Inspiring Journey of Sabinal's FCA Chapter
Gospel Imperative
When God calls, our response matters. Just as Isaiah boldly proclaimed, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" (Isaiah 6:8), we too are called to step forward in faith when opportunities to spread the Gospel arise.
A Divine Appointment in Sabinal
Six months ago, what began as a simple idea about bringing faith into our schools has blossomed into something extraordinary. Through the unmistakable fingerprints of the Lord, we launched the Sabinal chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)!
The results have been nothing short of miraculous. As the fall semester ends, our huddles have attracted between 80 to 140 students who actively participate, engage with their faith, and study scripture together. What's more, these gatherings have inspired the creation of additional small group Bible studies for deeper discipleship.
The impact continues to grow as we've launched a Student Athletes Leadership Team (SALT), where we provide focused discipleship during lunch periods every other Tuesday. This combination of large multi-sport huddles and smaller discipleship groups demonstrates the incredible potential for God's movement in Sabinal.
Recently, I experienced the profound blessing of preaching at First Baptist Church Sabinal alongside my friends. Together, we shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ using the FCA Four Symbol bracelet to illustrate the road to salvation. My friend Win delivered a heartfelt message from God's Word, while his wife blessed the congregation with moving hymns. Throughout the service, we emphasized the significant influence FCA is having on students, staff, and the entire Sabinal community.
Pastor Jordan La Bry, whose vision and support have been instrumental in this journey, graciously noted, "We are very blessed having these three share their gifts and passion with us this morning at First Baptist Church Sabinal! What a great morning of worship!"
The testimony of this new FCA chapter reminds us that when we respond to God's call with "Here am I, send me," He multiplies our efforts beyond what we could imagine. To all who have served, donated, prayed for, and supported FCA this semester, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your investment is yielding eternal dividends in the lives of these young people.
